Facing your shadows

Shadow work is not about chasing away the shadows. Its accepting that our shadows are part of who we are, and that they are nothing to be afraid of. Shadows are created by light, go outside on a cloudy day, and you may or may not see your shadow.
Go outside on a bright sunny day, and there is your shadow for everyone to see. And the brighter the day, the darker the shadow. Our shadow is part of us, its an exact reflection of who we are and it follows us everywhere.
But have you ever felt the need to condemn that shadow, have you ever tried to run away from it, or do you just accept that its part of you that sometimes shows itself to you, mostly when the light is the brightest.
And have you ever wondered why you can be in a really good place mentally, and a shadow will descend on you seemingly from nowhere. It’s because being in that good place is your best chance of playing with your shadow. We live in a vortex of creation, and everything comes around again and again until we have ‘dealt’ with it. What does dealing with it actually mean, it means facing it head on, it means accepting the pain that may come with it, it means feeling that pain, and then watching as the pain subsides and drifts away. And its a process, we only get what we can deal with, so that pain may continue to show itself regularly at first, just a bit at a time, until one day we notice that that thing which at one time bought us to our knees, now only brings with it moderate discomfort.
Every single time we release just a tiny bit of the pain we grow, we move forward, and I know that at times it can feel relentless, it can feel like you just don’t want to play this game any more, like you just want it to stop – I know because I’ve been there, a few times. But I now know from experience that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel, and that anything we go through will eventually make sense, and make the journey so worthwhile.
So if you’re going through this now, keep going and keep holding on, one day at a time, one moment at a time, you can do it! xx
